Sprinkle 0.5 cup of water over the flour and rub it between your palms to form coarse granules.
Pass the granules through a sieve and separate the large and small pieces.
Melt the butter and vegetable oil in a pot for 4 minutes.
Toast the umac granules in the fat for 16 minutes, until light brown.
Boil the granulated sugar with 1 cup of water for 5 minutes, add it to the halva, and stir for 3 minutes so the syrup leaves no lumps.
