Cook the dates with the water and lemon juice for 10 minutes, until softened.
Mash the date mixture with a fork and let it cool.
Mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Work the butter into the dry mixture to make crumbs.
Press half of the crumbs into the pan.
Spread the date filling over it and sprinkle the remaining crumbs on top.
Bake at 180°C for 30 to 35 minutes, then cool and cut into squares.
