Mix the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of the sugar and let it foam for 8 minutes.
Knead the flour, remaining sugar, butter, eggs, and salt with the yeasted milk.
Let the dough rise in a covered bowl for 75 minutes, until doubled.
Divide the dough into three strips, braid them, and transfer the braid to a tray.
Let the braid rise again on the tray for 35 minutes.
Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
Bake the hefezopf in a 180°C oven for 32 minutes, until browned.
Let it cool for 20 minutes before slicing.
