Drain the curd cheese in two layers of cheesecloth for 10 minutes to remove excess moisture, then mash with a fork to smooth it.
Add the egg, granulated sugar, salt, and vanilla to the drained curd cheese; mix in the flour to make a soft dough that does not stick to your hands.
Flour your palms and shape the dough into 8 small disks, keeping each one 1.5 cm thick.
Heat the vegetable oil in a wide pan over medium-low heat and cook the disks for 4 minutes, until the first side is golden.
Turn the disks and fry the other side for 4 more minutes; transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.
Move to a serving plate, drizzle with cherry sauce, and serve hot.
💡 Tip: Drain the moisture from tvorog or curd cheese in two layers of cheesecloth for 10 minutes; otherwise the disks fall apart. Flour your palms while shaping so they do not stick and take a cleaner form.
🍽️ Serving suggestion: Place the hot disks on a plate, spoon cherry sauce over them, and serve with a spoonful of sour cream or powdered sugar.
