Peel the potatoes and boil them in salted water for 20 minutes.
Mash the potatoes with milk and keep warm.
Slice the meat into very thin strips.
Melt the butter in a skillet and fry the meat over high heat for 5 minutes.
Add the onion and stir for 4 more minutes.
Add the water or meat stock, cover the pan, and soften for 22 minutes.
Finish with salt and black pepper, then serve with mash and lingonberry jam.
